Tone Language

This article was a good read. I find it pretty amazing that she wrote a whole book on her cell phone. When she didn’t even like reading or writing. But, she ended up writing a whole story on her little 3g-cell phone. She said she wrote when her baby was sleeping and by doing this every time she slept she ended up getting a book deal out of it and 9000 dollars. That’s a pretty good deal to just basically text on your cell phone while your baby sleeps. Even though we don’t not have these types of deals in the United States yet I feel we will have them very shortly.

Do you ever see yourself writing a whole book on your cell phone? Wouldn’t you rather use a computer to write a paper then a phone?

Cross-Platform Storytelling

What exactly is ITV (interactive television) when I first read that term I thought of people interacting with the TV shows having a input on what’s going to happen in there favorite show. But that’s not exactly what it means. It is how people can interact with each other about there favorite shows. TV shows are not just shows anymore they can become a persons life style. The TV is a mainstream way to advertise they use the show to make a person want that life style and be just like them. They then sell stuff with the shows logo on it and stuff in the show and people go crazy because they think they are part of the show. Also another way to integrate with the TV lifestyle is to blog on there cites and sometimes they have a things blog with the star of the show. But, honestly do you think this is really the star of the TV show it could be anyone on the other side of the computer. People just get so excited that they think it is and speaking of people getting excited over it now they have portable TV so people never have to miss there show they can watch it on there cell phone instead of meeting new people that might help them get somewhere in life this is ridiculous.

Would you ever get so involved in a show you watched it on your cell phone and not pay attention to what’s going on around you in the real world?

Hill, Dan “Why Lost is genuinely new media”

“Lost is a far more ambitious piece of media, which uses the entire web as its canvas and its entire audience as its creators.” This quote from the reading really got to me and got me thinking. Why is lost the first of its kind? We had the technogly to do this for many years to have the Internet as a way to impact the outcome of a TV show. Lost is really a great show to do this because it will make all the viewers happy because they no they will have a impact on the show and keep the viewers watching to see if there input help in the next show. This is also a great way to keep viewers hooked and keep the show making money. Because, it’s all about money. I personally only watch some of the first episodes with my mom and then the show got to strange for me. But some TV shows aren’t for everyone.

Would you ever or have you ever blogged about a TV show you watched? Do you think it had an impact on the shows outcome if you did?

Saving the Story (the film Version)

Movies are no longer doing as good as they once where. New short stories must rush to get out there to keep up with release dates and you might not even know the movie was out because it gets lost in everything that is going on in the world and what the media shows us as people. The article talks about how movies got lost and didn’t do as good as they thought because the presidential compians where going on and people played more attention to that. They say the old way of story telling is out, stories with a beginning middle and end. They are going to have open-ended stories to keep people hooked. Another thing is when you go to the movies its suppose to be an escape but it is even hard for the producers to do that with people still begging connected to the word with there phone calls and there texting during the movie. I’m not going to lie I text during the movies but I still pay attention maybe this is just how older people see how movies are.

Do you text when you’re in a movie and do you still know what’s going on in the movie if you do so?

Metafora: Narrative

“The fineness of the story or myth whether told in word, movement or image, is in the creative use of metafora, or the inventions of new forms of it.”

Story telling is the history of the people. Some are facts and some are fake but by telling stories people can learn many things from right and wrong to friendship. Stories are the backbone of the culture you can learn a lot of a group of people from there old stories that where past down there the generations. Even art tells a story and how someone feels. I feel like stories are never going to die. If they do we will be in big trouble because stories help people communicate. This makes people have something in common when they both heard different verses of a story they can talk about it and see what has different. Stories are a part of the past and people learn from them so I think stories will never die out.

Do you remember the first story your parents told you? Or what was your favorite bedtime story as a child?

Play the Game: Grand Theft Desire

This game is one of the best games ever made. I feel this is the reason so many people hate on it. Its one of the more successful games out there who cares that its one of the most violent ones too. The game allows you to do anything you want. This doesn’t mean you have to do it most of the time. But, even if you do its only a game and kids no this. They know that they cannot do this in real life or they will get killed. Personally I have played this game and thought it was so cool how you could do what ever you wanted. But I do not own this game. I felt like it got boring after awhile there is no strategy at all.

Who wouldn’t want to be a gang banger for a couple of hours and return to their everyday life with out having to worry if you’re going to get killed?

Is this Man Cheating on his Wife?

This is a hard topic to replay on but this is what I came up with, there are two forms of cheating emotionally and physically. This man is defiantly cheating emotionally with this other woman. Even though they are only cartoons in the cyber word there are real people controlling them and telling them how to act and what to say. So the fake cartoon character is there personality. This man spends more time with his cyber wife then his real wife I done not understand women and never will. But y doesn’t she leave him?

Would you cheat on your wife with a cyber wife everyday?

You Are Cyborg

This article is very interesting talking about cybernetics and how they wanted to make people stronger and healthier. A super human as they called it like super man. Cyborgs where just medical experiments until one day when the bionic man and woman become a prime time TV show. This mad everyone feel it was realistic because they where just everyday people until they had to go threw the sugary and become hero’s. A lot of older people have hip replacements and knee replacements this makes them cyborgs.

Do you think one day there will limbs to make you like the bionic man?

In Korea, A Boot Camp Cure for Web Obsession

The Internet is becoming a huge problem in Korea, They had to set up a boot camp to help the over obsessed males to not be addicted to the Internet anymore. It is such a big problem that the government is paying for it. Hopefully this will help all these males in the camp out. They spend 17 hours a day on the Internet this is not good because they are barely sleeping and eating. Korea is the first to take action on Internet addicted people.

Do you ever think this people will not go back on the Internet again?
The Internet is a way of work and will never go away so how will these people over come the Internet?

The little video is about a guy that owns a ranch that set up a rifle that can be controlled over the internet to shoot at deer. This is digital hunting you are really killing the animal I think it’s a cool idea but I do not feel its right. I feel that people will not even relize that they are taking the life of something which is wrong.

Do you feel this is fair to other hunters?

should you be able to kill something threw the internet at all?

I think that this is a really good idea. It would deferent help solders from the war forget painful memories or maybe even get them ready for the war. They might be scared to go to war and not be prepared for it but this program could help them be ready for what they might have to face their. The more training a solider has the better chance they have out in battle. I think this program is a very good thing and should be designed even more to be the closest thing to real life possible.

A world of witnesses

This article talks about cell phones, and how they have changed to help people. It also talks about how they will change to help mankind out even more in the near future. Some things that they changed are
- Help staying organized while voting
- Warning on riots
- Organizing people to come together
- Bad thing is one was used to dentate the explosive on the Madrid trains in 2004
- Phone become the clue that uncovered the plot
- Mobile phones now have video cameras built in to document wronged doings to show the media
- Mobile phones are also helping within health care in south Africa
- Text to find out info on market fish
- Text to find out info on air pollution

Future for phones
- Automatically test for radiation
- GPS would point authorities to the site of a nuclear leak
- Carbon monoxide, ozone, pollen, sun intensity
Cell phones already have sensors that pick up cell signal so these things are not that far fetched.

Do you think everyone will one day will have a cell phone and not have to pay for these extra things they are coming out with on them? Or do you think it will have to be paid for? (im not going to lie im cheap)

Always-on/ Always-on-you: The Tethered Self

This is a lot of reading and I from what I got out of it is mostly how the cell phone is becoming a part of people everyone is using them. In the first couple of pages I think it talks about how people are going to become part of the web with is being in bedded in them and always being on line. Walking around with it always being able to see who else is on online is stuff.

Later on it talks about black berry users how when they use it now they can get lost in it. It also talks about how people need to be able to separate work from their everyday life I think this is a good thing to do. You need to be able to separate your work from your family and not let it be smushed together.

Do you feel people from the working world are smushing there work in with their family life too and not enjoying the time with their family because they are always worried about work?

Flickring here, twittering there

In reading this article I came to the conclusion that the Internet is changing the way the presidential candidates campaign. The Internet is a faster way to get the information they are putting out and to find out more about them. I also feel that the internet can lie more because anyone can make a website and post stuff on them, so if your reading something about a candidate check it out on other sites to. Another thing with the Internet people can donate money to the candidates to help them run. They can also read blogs on them, and watch past events on them like on you tube. This is good for people who miss something about their candidates campaign.

Do you feel the Internet favors one party more then the other?

Obama Uses Text Messaging With Eye On Nov. 4

I am very spectacle about this whole texting my number to someone thing. Yes I understand why they are doing it to help their candidate out. But, I also feel it might be a way for Obama to get money? Because texting isn’t free and im sure normal texting fees will apply and who is going to pay for that text? Im sure its not the Obama campaign. It will be coming out of the people pockets. I feel like it’s one of those commercials on TV just to make money and I do not like this idea.

Do you think the obama campaign is paying for these text messages or is it coming out of your pocket?

How much is You Tube Worth to Obama and McCain?

This article show that Obama has way more videos on you tube. But it doesn’t tell if they are positive or negative they could be either all it says is video with Obama. Another good point this article makes is that with you tube you have to go pull it up to watch it, when with TV commercial they are on so it pushes you to watch it. The presidential campaign is moving more and more towards the Internet.

Do you think its all-positive video’s about Obama on you tube?

Twitter: An Antidote to Election Day Voting Problems?

I don’t fully understand this article how twitter actually helps at the poles? I think it just informs people of information on their cell phones that’s what I got out of this article. Say you’re a parent and you on your way to the pole and you have your kids in the car and you’re going to vote and twitter tells you there is a long line honestly are you going to turn around? Take all that time to get you’re your kids out of the car and then go again later? No, you’ll just go and wait on the line then so it might not even be a helpful tool. People are busy these days if there was a line and I left I know I probably wouldn’t go back I would just stay there and vote and I feel this is how most people feel. I think twitter is just another high tech texting site that might make it even worse if it texts people false information.

Do you think it is twitter is really needed to inform you info on Election Day or would it just get annoying after a while?

The daily me

Filtering is selecting what we want to watch, hear, and see. With TV we can only do this to a extent with the internet we have all the control this article talks about this and gives sites on where you can go to get information on you candidate and not the other. With the Internet there are no unwanted commercials and negative add’s. The Internet is all about you, you deciding what you want to read and pay attion to. You have the power!

Do you think the Internet is bad and you will not get both sides of the election?
Will you only pay attention to the side you want to win?

Web of activism

My space, you tube, and face book are good sites to use local campaigns where the people running do not have a lot of money to campaign. All the sites are free and can be seen by just a click of the mouse. The Internet is just like word of mouth the article said but faster. This is a good thing for local comities to use to get their views out there.

Do you think most older people know how to use the sites or are it just mostly for links in emails to get the point across?

The last debate I think was the best one ever if gave the candidates their last chance to get their words out there. I feel Obama had performed the same as he always did. Being a good public speaker and all but, I feeling that this was McCain best debate. McCain actually went on the attack in this debate he made people question Obama’s tax plan and his relationship with bill Ayers (former member of the weather underground) a demestic terrorist group. McCain also brought up Obama’s relationship with Acorn, which is now being investigated for voter fraud.

Great Photo on Flicker? Getty Images Might Pay You for It

This article was a good read and I think many photographers will be happy to learn of the partnership with Getty images and flicker. Armature photographers that have high quality pictures on flicker will most defiantly be happy to hear that they could be selected to get paid for there pictures. I know I would be. Especially making 30-40 percent on each photo they sell rights to.

Do you think 30-40 percent is a good price for photo?

Why Blog? Reason No. 92: Book Deal

It’s pretty amazing that a web blog got a publishing deal for 300,000 dollars. Who would of ever expected that from just posting up for ideas. I think its pretty amazing that they paid this much for the blog when the article said that Random House would have to sell about 75,000 copies, to earn back its $300,000 advance. That’s pretty awesome that the author to that blog made that much on it when the idea wasn’t even original it was based on a book from 1985.

Do you feel it was right for the author of the blog to make this much money when it wasn’t even an original idea?

Download This: YouTube Phenom Has a Big Secret

I find this article very disturbing. A singer and guitarist named Marié Digby has been lying to all of her fans for at least 18 months. Marié Digby said on her myspace page she was not signed by any major label to make her seem like she was an amautre, but really had been signed by Disney. She mad YouTube videos to try to make her seem like she was a at home girl trying to get noticed but really she was lying and her label helped her make this plan to market herself. If I was her fan and I found out she was lying to me I would be so frustrated I would not like her anymore.

Do you feel this is right for major labels to promote there new musicians like this, to make them seem like amauters to get there names out there when really they already have a deal from them?

Web logs: a history and perspective

The article talks about how web blogging sprung up from nothing to something huge. In 1999 they’re where only 23 blogs out there and the bloggers would probably read all of them. Now there is a blog on everything subject this is because the Internet has made it extremely easy to make a blog. There are now web blog builder sites where you can make your own web blog and just about anyone can do it. Now I am sure the true 23 bloggers cannot read every blog out there anymore. I find it crazy how fast its grown in such a short amount of time.

Do you feel that blogging will continue to grow or will a new Internet fade come out? If it fades out what do you think the new fad will be?

The ecstasy of influence:
A plagiarism

By Jonathan Lethem

What I get out of this article is that writers and artist and musicians could have the same idea and as someone else and write it, paint, or sing it with out even knowing the other person has the same story, painting, or song. The history of literature is not without examples of this phenomenon, called cryptomnesia. But, how do we know they didn’t read the others authors story or hear it. There is know way of knowing if the author ever knew of the other’s story even if we did how would we prove this.

Do you think its fair that a well known author would get more credit for a story that is basically the same as a less known author, and maybe even gotten the idea from the less known author?

The Generational Divide in Copyright Morality

In this article it talks about copyright lays and what should be right and wrong to everyone isn’t. There are many different generations and from what the author says each generation things it is less wrong for certain things and the copyright laws. The worse generation is college students the author states in this article. The author asks an auditorium of 500 college students “O.K., let’s try one that’s a little less complicated: You want a movie or an album. You don’t want to pay for it. So you download it.” Only 2 hands went up out of the 500 students so there is differently a generation gap with right and wrong. Being a college student I feel like I know where these kids are coming from. Say you like one song on the album why buy the whole album. I know some of you are going to be like well you can buy one song off itunes for 99 cents. Know really I know its wrong but with apple making so much money why should you spend 99 cents if you can get it for free.

Do you feel downloading songs for free is really a bad thing?

Lessig, Lawrence: watch this 20-minute presentation on youtube.

Honestly I really didn’t understand what this presentation. So ill just say what I think it was about. I think it was about how techno is changing and copyright laws are changing with it. With the new technology people can change or edit anything they really want and make it say whatever they want. For example in the clip how they change the cartoon to sing the song, and the same with Gorge Bush and Al Gore. Also, another example is how they edited the Jesus figure to sing and go alone with the song. Somewhere in the clip they said they are trying to change the copyright laws so that “kids” can yours it for this amateur stuff but if it were used for mass media commercials it would conflict the copyright laws.

How do you feel about a youtube video making it big and then an artist suing because of a copyright law do you feel this is right?

The recent vice presidential debate was critical for both parties but more so for the Republican ticket. There were a couple of reasons for this.

First, expectations were not very high for Sarah Palin. She had recently held several interviews with Katie Couric of CBS News and by most standards had come off poorly. Governor Palin herself even admitted this. As a result, Republicans were just hoping that she would not repeat the mistakes she made in that interview and would not make any major errors or misstatements. In short, Republicans would be thankful if she simply held her own and came out of the debate unscathed. Instead, Mrs. Palin’s performance in the debate exceeded the expectations of even her harshest critics. She appeared forceful and confident. She challenged Senator Biden on several key issues, including taxes and the mission in Iraq. Biden on the other hand was steady and much to the relief of the Democrats did not commit any major errors, which in itself is a major achievement for Mr. Biden.

Second, Governor Palin stuck to her agenda but at the same time came across as a Washington DC outsider compared to a Washington veteran like Joe Biden. According to the political analysts, this perception of Governor Palin is a big advantage for her as it lends credence to the statements she continually makes about not being a part of the old, tired politics of Washington.

An interesting observation was presented by Mr. Frank Luntz who is a political analyst at the end of the debate. Mr. Luntz uses an electronic tool to measure the responses of an audience to various points made during the debate. In this case, the audience was made up of about forty (40) Independent voters. All but one indicated that Governor Palin had won the debate. The individual who did not think Palin won stated that it was a draw. I would tend to agree with Mr. Luntz’s audience based on the expectations that were set coming into the debate.
